Who is this article for?Users experiencing the incorrect username due to LastPass.
Access to LastPass is required.
In this article, we delve into the issue of LastPass causing incorrect usernames to appear during user administration. Uncover the root causes and explore effective solutions to ensure accurate user management in the sections below.
1. Issue
When administering users from Smartforms Middleware, the Username field is incorrect and shows the username of the currently logged-in administrator rather than that of the selected user:
The user named Nguyen, Jimmy with the username jimmy. The Username field incorrectly shows a value of administrator.
Additionally, the password value has been replaced with that of the administrator, although it is not visible.
1.1 Cause of Error
The substitution of the Username and Password fields is due to the LastPass browser extension, this incorrectly identifies these fields as attributes of the currently logged-in user. This is a known bug in the LastPass product which has not been resolved. Because the behavior is not caused by Smartforms Middleware itself, we can only suggest workarounds to prevent this substitution.
2. Solution
- Disable the substitution behavior in LastPass.
- From the browser extension icon in the upper right corner of the browser, right-click on the LastPass icon and select Options.
- From the General tab, confirm that Automatically fill login information is unchecked:
- Alternately, remove the Password entry associated with this website. This will prevent the Username and Password fields from being automatically filled in with the saved entry.
